Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture (avatar) from Google. We store only what is needed to identify your account. We never see your Google password.

Resume content (your work history, education, skills, languages, certifications, and contact details) is stored as JSON in our database so you can access it across sessions. Anonymous resumes created without signing in are tied to your browser session and are claimed by your account automatically if you later sign in.

If you use the Job Tracker, we store the job application entries you add (company, position, status, location, salary, job posting link, notes, and dates) against your account.

If you use the ATS Checker, Job Match Tailor, or Interview Prep tools, we temporarily process the resume text, job description, or job title you submit in order to generate a result. Uploaded PDF files are deleted from our server immediately after text is extracted from them.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the cvgenerator.io service: saving your resume, enabling PDF export, tracking job applications you choose to log, and running AI tools when you actively choose to use them. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Third-party services

AI-powered tools (Job Match Tailor, Interview Prep, and the optional ATS improvement suggestion) send the resume text, job description, or job title you submit to a third-party language model provider (OpenRouter) for processing. This data is sent only when you actively trigger an AI feature, and is used to generate the response shown to you. Refer to OpenRouter's privacy policy for their own data handling practices.

We also use Google Analytics 4 for audience measurement. It collects usage data (pages viewed, referrer, device type, approximate IP-derived location) and sets the cookies described in our cookie policy. Your resume content is never sent to Google Analytics.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account, resume, and job tracker data until you ask us to delete it. Your account and all associated data (resumes, tracker entries, and account details) can be deleted at any time by contacting us via the contact form. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
